"Young Folks Portfolio".

"In the taxable account, I am going to liquidate, eradicate or nuke to death, CVX.

CVX was the only position in the taxable account that was in the red, it’s still in the red, down 8.9%, so there are no capital gains to pay. This will now have this portfolio completely out of energy. None of the portfolios I manage have fossil fuel energy exposure.

I will be adding to the following:

NKE … 3 shares. … V … 3 shares. … PEP … 5 shares … AAPL … 5 shares. … MSFT … 3 shares.

NKE is up 113.56% … V up 97.45% … PEP up 97.17%.

The objective for 2021, in the taxable account, was to add to companies up 100% or more. NKE qualifies, V and PEP were close enough.

AAPL and MSFT were new positions taken out in 2020 so I need to build them now and then allow them time to grow as well. AAPL will now be a $3.5K sized position, MSFT will be $2.9K.

Now for the Roth.

VFC up 41.62% and BDX up 40.09% have both under-performed the S&P 500 over the last 1, 3 and 5 year periods, so out they go. They will be liquidated. Since these capital gains are being realized in the Roth, there are no tax consequences.

I will be adding to the following:

NIO … 11 shares … SE … 3 shares … TWLO … 2 shares … PSTH … 19 shares.

These were all new positions, just purchased a month ago, and position size was under $1K each. These new buys will take each one of them up over $1K and I will now see how they play out before adding more.

I will be adding 4 more shares of TSLA and 23 more shares of ARKG, even though I just purchased some on Monday before the ARKG dip.

The goal for 2021 was to make TSLA and ARKG my two largest positions in the Roth. This will take TSLA up to $7.3K and ARKG up to $6K.

TSLA will now be the largest position in the Roth (not the taxable) as MKC was the largest Roth position at $6.4K. So, as you can see, the 2021 goal for these two companies are being achieved before 2021 even starts. … Ha!

Since I have higher expectations for these two holdings, I decided to have them in place for the entire year. I still plan on adding to them in 2021, but I’ll be adding to other companies as well as opposed to focusing on just these two."

For those of you wanting to take advantage of renewable energy in the utility sector, but need some yield, you might want to check out YLCO. … Those are the companies I think will benefit most from clean energy. BEPC and NEP are part of their top 25 holdings. You won’t see ED … DUK …SO … WEC … XEL, etc. in that ETF. This ETF has a 3.02% yield.

I don’t own it in any portfolio I manage, but I do see the possibility of adding it at some point because of the heavy exposure to international clean energy holdings. I might want to git some of that action.

If anyone has any additional information on any of those international utes within the fund, please pass it along. I know we have people from other countries reading this blog. You may have personal experience or knowledge of them.

Chamath Palihpitiya, the King of SPACs y tercer ojito derecho de Chowder junto a Elon Musk y Cathie Wood

1 me gusta

I am a believer in disruptive innovation technology, and I am a believer in Elon Musk, Cathie Wood and Chamath Palihpitiya in their quest to capitalize on that innovative growth.

I already have TSLA and it is the largest position in this portfolio, I already have several of the Ark Funds with ARKG being the second largest position in this portfolio, but I only have one of Chamath’s SPAC’s in this portfolio and that is IPOE.

I already know who IPOE is going to merge with and that’s So-Fi which fits in well with the recent purchases of SQ and PYPL.

Normally I would prefer to wait until a SPAC announces a merger before buying, but I think I am going to trust Chamath’s track record so far and take a leap of faith into the unknown.

I am going to take very small positions in the remaining two SPAC’s that have not yet found companies to merge with, that being IPOD and IPOF. I am going to sell 17 shares of FAST which will generate a little over $800 and I am going to start a new position in IPOD and IPOF at $400 each tomorrow.

Again, the risk here is the unknown. I know who IPOE is merging with, I don’t know if IPOD or IPOF will even be able to find a company willing to merge, thus it is the unknown that requires a leap of faith, but in doing so I will manage the risk by keeping the positions small until they do find a partner.

Why aren’t I waiting for them to find a partner? Because Chamath is so well known for his ability to find mergers, price runs up considerably before any announcement.
Again, this is a level of risk I would not suggest others make, but if you do make it, manage your downside loss potential.

On another note, Chamath has reserved the symbols IPOG and all the letters following it up to and including IPOZ. He says he may end up having taken 26 SPAC’s public. I’ll throw a few dollars at each one with the understanding that I only need two or three of them to have big moves and provide the growth I would like to see in this portfolio.
